2022 Olympic Winter Games

February 4th until February 20th, 2022

Venues of the 2022 Winter Olympics

The Olympics are not something new for Beijing and some venues from the 2008 Olympics will be reused. But the snow and sliding events will need new venues and because Beijing lacks mountains, these events are located outside Beijing. In total there are three so called competition zones: Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou.

The ice sports will be organised in Beijing as well as the opening and closing ceremonies. About 50 miles north east of Beijing the Yanqing Zone is located. In this competition zone the alpine skiers and the athletes in the sliding events will fight for the medals. Zhangjiakou Zone is 30 miles further north east. This is the area were will be decided who may call themselves Olympic champion for four years in cross-country skiing, biathlon, ski jumping, nordic combined, snowbaording or freestyle skiing.
